Alstom to work on Riyadh PP12 power project
Contract valued at over $120m sees firm provide steam tail for plant
Alstom Thermal Power has agreed a deal valued at over US $120 million with Arabian Bemco Contracting Company to provide the steam tail for the Riyadh PP12 gas-fired plant. The project, currently under construction by Saudi Electric Company, is located 100 kilometres west of Riaydh and is set to produce 2,175 MW of power when completed.
The contract incorporates the supply of two 342 MW steam turbine generator sets, together with eight Heat Recovery Steam Generators. The plant will utilise exhaust gases from its gas turbines to generate steam to power steam turbines, increasing fuel efficiency with a combined cycle design.
“We are proud to be working with Bemco on this important infrastructure project for SEC and the country. Alstom offers leading steam tail technology which will extend the efficiency and performance of the power plant. We are pleased to further extend the relationship we have built with SEC through our work in the Shoaiba power plant with this project,” said Alsom country president in Saudi Arabia Nader Abdellatif.
Alstom has extensive experience of installing steam tails across the region, including at the Al-Zour gas-fired plant in Kuwait, and Dubai’s Condor/Kestrel 125MW aluminium smelter in Jebel Ali.
