Pentair X-Flow wins Ras Al Khaimah desal contract
Company will provide Aquatech Eastern with UF membranes
Pentair X-Flow have agreed a deal with Aquatech Eastern for the provision of the company’s Seaflex 55 ultrafiltration (UF) membranes and skids for the Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA) Seawater Reverse Osmosis plant being built in Ras Al Khaimah. The project, owned by FEWA, is being built at Ghallilah and is scheduled for completion in late 2013, with an output of 68,000m3 per day. When completed, the site will have an estimated UF permeate capacity of 7,125 m3 per hour on a continuous basis.
Pentair has said that the X-Flow UF membranes were chosen to provide optimum pretreatment for the reverse osmosis membranes. They will be installed with an inline configuration, lowering energy consumption and avoiding contamination due to the lack of additional pumps and storage tanks needed. Aquatech Eastern is executing the project on a full EPC basis, including civil works, buildings and mechanical installation.
X-Flow membranes were previously selected by FEWA for the Al Zawrah plant in Ajman earlier this year.
