The fifth annual Saudi Water and Power Forum has opened in Jeddah under the theme ‘change, innovation and sustainable development’.

Held over four days, the forum will stage a first day of seminars and discussions on water and power topics with the day divided into two major sessions. Those two sessions will include debate on the need for research and the investment opportunities available in Saudi Arabia.

Other topics being discussed at the forum include demand management, water re-use, the challenges of privatisation, decentralised solutions for production and services and prospects for alternative energy sources for utilities.

The keynote address will be given by journalist and author Fred Pearce, which will examine the challenges being faced by the Saudi water and power sector from a global perspective.

“The increasing demand for power and water in the Kingdom provides abundant opportunities for investment in the upgrading and expansion of power and water services,” said Dr Adil Bushnak, chairman of Bushnak Group, which is organising the event.

“The strategic forum is your chance to join the debate and discover more about the strategies, policies and technologies that are driving the growth,” he added.
