Abu Dhabi's Tabreed has announced that it has finished the completion of its Al Ain district cooling plant. The facility has been enlarged to meet growing demand from UAE University, which now has a total demand of more than 20,000 RT.

Tabreed CEO Sujit S Parhar said of the development, "We are delighted to support the UAE University in expanding the world-class education infrastructure it offers its students. This expansion will increase the year-round energy-efficient, cost-effective and reliable cooling solutions that Tabreed supplies to the university and demonstrates our commitment to meeting our customers' cooling needs."

Tabreed's total installed capacity in the UAE now stands at 603,441 RT, with a connected capacity of 561,297 RT. Earlier this month, the company announced a 15% increase in profits over the first quarter compared with the same period last year. Chilled water profits were up 29% to US $19.9 million, whilst operating costs had fallen 25% compared with last year.
