DEWA inaugurates Al Kafaf Substation
DEWA announces $26m 132/11 kV Substation is operational
DEWA has announced the inauguration of a main 132/11 kV Substation at Kafaf with a capacity of 150 megavolt amperes. The US $26 million project – which also necessitated the laying of 132 kV underground cables valued at an additional $2.7 million – is aimed at helping support DEWA provide for Dubai's increasing energy needs.
His Excellence Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer. CEO and MD of DEWA, said that the project showed DEWA was continuing to support the high voltage 132/11 kV electricity transmission network.
"DEWA continues to implement development projects to raise and upgrade the power capacity of its infrastructure, to keep pace with the high growth of demand for its services. DEWA always aspires to optimise its services to achieve the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency, helping to strengthen Dubai's position as a global hub for finance, business and tourism," he said.
DEWA says that the substation use the most state-of-the-art technologies for substations, consequently promoting their efficiency and reliability in operation. Another 30 substations of 132kV are also currently being built to meet Dubai’s energy supply needs.
