Pentair X-Flow nets Jubail project win in KSA
Jubail Phase 2 SWRO plant to be equipped with X-Flow UF membrane kit
Pentair X-Flow has confirmed it has received an order from Al Fatah Water and Power to supply its Seaguard ultrafiltration (UF) membranes and skids to the Jubail Phase 2 seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) project in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The Jubail SWRO Phase 2, a continuation of the Al Fatah Water and Power project in Jubail, has a design capacity of 58,500 m³/day and is projected to be completed by January 1, 2013.
This dual membrane plant with UF followed by reverse osmosis (RO) will be the largest UF-RO desalination plant in Saudi Arabia. With a UF production capacity of 7,400 m³/h (177 MLD), the SWRO facility will produce water for the city’s industry. An eight-month pilot period with UF and other filtration technologies preceded the selection. "During piloting Pentair X-Flow’s membranes showed outstanding performance. This, combined with the company’s track record and project management capabilities, led to the selection of Pentair X-Flow," the company said in a statement.
The win provides a breakthrough in the Saudi Arabian desalination market and strengthens Pentair X-Flow’s position as a UF technology supplier in the Middle East. Pretreatment with UF provides higher RO fluxes and positively impacts all vital aspects of an SWRO plant – including consistent RO feed water quality, a significantly smaller plant design, better performance, and reduced capital expenditure.
