Saudi Arabia is to begin tendering the first of its 16 planned nuclear reactors by the end of 2012, a spokesman for the King Abdullah Centre of Atomic and Renewable Energy has said.
Saleh Al Shubaili said that the reactor’s site would be announced in March 2012, and that the bidding would be “of a gradual pace, rather than one award.” This bidding method will apply to all 16 planned reactors, and the news comes shortly after the Kingdom inked deals with South Korea to help with the development of nuclear power in the country.
