For the first time ever, Abu Dhabi’s peak power production will exceed 10,000 megawatts next year, ADWEC’s director of planning and studies has announced.

In a report by Reuters, Keith Miller said: “Electricity demand growth is among the fastest growing in the world today, even faster than China in percentage terms. In 2015 electricity supply to ADNOC will rise to 2,000 MW due to new projects.”

In 2011 the emirate’s peak demand stood at 9,800 megawatts; a 14 per cent increase over 2009, with the majority – some 6,140 megawatts – going to residential and service sectors.
