French power giant Alstom has won a $540m contract to construct a 182 megawatt gas-fired power plant in Iraq, according to a government spokesman.
The plant is planned to be inaugurated within 18 months of the contract signing, and will be built in the central Iraq province of Diyala, Ali al-Dabbagh has said in a statement. He also said that Alstom was selected over Iran’s Mabna due to its offer being “more attractive and less expensive.”
