IAEA claims Iran is developing nukes
Report claims Iran's atomic programme is not peaceful
A report by the UN’s atomic watchdog IAEA has claimed that Iran’s nuclear programme has been secretly working on developing nuclear weapons.
The report claims the country has been developing a detonator, testing explosives and conducting computer modelling, and that there is no innocent application for many of their activities.
The news comes shortly after Iran’s much-delayed and highly controversial nuclear facility, Bushehr, was connected to the nation’s grid, prompting fresh accusations that the country’s nuclear programme is developing nuclear weapons.
The country has been the recipient of various rounds of sanctions over the last two decades, during which time it has continued to maintain that its nuclear programme is purely for peaceful purposes.
