Iran is world's third largest dam builder
Nation is currently constructing 135 new dams
Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Rahimi, has announced that the nation ranks third in the world for dam construction, following the recent inauguration of the Karun-4 dam.
“Although Tehran has been the target of sanctions of Western powers for more than three decades, today Iran ranks the first in region and 16th in the world in terms of electricity output,” he said.
He also said that increasing demand from Middle Eastern countries for electricity imports from Iran has meant that the country has increased its production rate, and is also working on projects in other countries.
Earlier this year, Iran announced its dam construction self sufficiency after it inaugurated the Karun-4 project, Iran’s largest concrete dam, designed and constructed by local engineers.
