Emirate to invest billions in green energy to meet ambitious targets
The Emirate of Dubai has announced ambitious plans to invest billions of dollars in renewable energy, as it looks to a target of producing 5 per cent of its power through green sources by 2030.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairmand of Dubai’s Supreme Council of Energy announced the plans at a press conference, saying that the majority of the generation would be through solar power.
“A council strategy plan outlines the Emirate’s power needs should be fuelled by 71 per cent gas, 12 per cent coal, 12 per cent nuclear and five per cent by solar energy,” he told journalists.
