Khobar's 3,900MW plant is third of six planned IWPPs in country
The Saudi Electric Company has announced that it will sign a $2.85bn contract for the construction of its Qurayyah power plant in Khobar.
A consortium comprising ACWA Power Projects ltd, Samsung C&T corp and MENA fund will sign the deal with the Gulf’s largest utility, for the construction of a 3,900 megawatt power plant. The facility is planned to be completed before peak summer temperatures hit in 2014, and it marks the third of six planned independent power projects planned by the SEC.
