Two American battery manufacturers have teamed up in an attempt to solve the problem of energy storage for renewable power.

Palladium Energy and Trojan Battery Company have announced that they will combine efforts to create portable batteries that can be used to store energy from the wind and sun, so that it can be used when it’s needed.

It’s an important step forward for smart grid technology – while harnessing the sun and wind’s power is well-proven technology, storing the energy so that it can be used at our discretion is not. It would also create a market for easily portable emergency power for regions in need of disaster relief.
