Justin H Siberell, the US Consul General, praised Dubai’s quick adoption of district cooling technologies during a visit to the offices of Emirates Central Cooling Cooperation (Empower).
During a meeting with Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, Siberell stressed the need for boosting cooperation and exchanging expertise between Empower and US companies working in the energy sector. The district cooling service provider is the largest in the Middle East.
“People and businesses are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of using district cooling systems as an alternative to conventional AC systems, leading to energy saving and environment conservation,” said Bin Shafar.
“Empower has succeeded in building world class district cooling infrastructure that is considered an ideal economic and environmental solution for residential and commercial units, offices and hotels in the UAE,” he added.
The Dubai based district cooling provider has established itself as the leading district cooling services provider in the region due to its clear strategy of aggressively disseminating the technology and conducting campaigns to highlight district cooling’s strategic value in the short and long run to people and society in general.
The meeting also saw the challenges and potential of the district cooling industry discussed, as well as the importance of increasing tie ups between the private and public sector to further boost the district cooling industry in the region.
Siberell also lauded Dubai as a regional investment hub for IT, tourism, trade and education. The UAE is considered to be the biggest importer of American products in the region.
