Doosan scoops $80m Saudi desal deal
54,000 tonnes of water per day to be produced from Yanbu plant
South Korean construction firm Doosan has been awarded an $80m deal for the construction of a seawater desalination plant in western Saudi Arabia.
The deal, which has been made with Saudi’s Marafiq, is for a multi-effect desalination facility in Yanbu, and sources say that completion of the plant is scheduled for March 2014. The facility, to be built 350km northwest of Jeddah, will produce 54,000 tonnes of potable water per day.
