Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced a $23m 132kV substation in Jumeriah Lakes Towers in the Jebel Ali area of the city.

“In line with its vision as a recognised world-class utility, DEWA goes on with implementing its vital projects, especially in the field of infrastructure to keep pace with the aspirations of our judicial government which aim to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and reliability so as to enhance the efficiency of the grids to meet the growth of demand for its services," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

The project has seen the extension of underground cables, with a capacity of 132kV, by 21km, allowing the connection of the new substation to the main transformation station. The company says that this will optimise its efficient and reliability by ensuring an uninterrupted and stable power supply to all various segments of consumers, at all times.
