Power tariff rise for Riyadh residents
Price of power increase affects industrial and residential consumption
A rise in electricity tariffs in Riyadh has residents concerned about the price paid for power.
The Saudi Gazette has reported that a new set of rates will come into effect at the end of the financial year, after the Electricity and Co-Generation Regulatory Authority approved the rise.
Sources have said that the ECRA was originally given power to change tariffs of only non-residential electrical consumption, but will be raising the cost of both – a move Al-Yaum Arabic Daily has said will affect the stability of citizens’ lives.
