IRENA and REEEP sign MOU
Strategic partnership will see stronger working relationship
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Adnan Amin, the director general of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and Marianne Osterkorn from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP).
Designed to help build a strategic partnership and strengthen their working relationship, the MOU defines a general framework for cooperation within which both organisations can explore and implement activities in the next three years.
“This document really formalises the working relationship between the two organisations,” says Osterkorn, REEEP’s director general. “It lays out a clear roster of areas where we can collaborate productively. REEEP has a strong track record of targeted interventions on the ground, and solid regional presence, so it is good to be complementing each other’s strengths.”
IRENA’s Adnan Amin said: “IRENA strives to become and inclusive platform upon which governments, scientists, academia, investors and civil society can work together to build a framework to promote renewable energy. Joining forces with REEEP , which has a wide membership, is the first step in this direction.”
