Baghdad’s provincial council has announced a $42.5 million allocation of funds for the purchase of 360 electricity generators, which are to be distributed throughout the city in an attempt to combat huge power shortages.

The generators will provide 2,200 megawatts to the capital city, after the nation’s traditional power generation system has spent some time struggling with demand for power during peak summer periods.
