Russians propose new atomic plans in Iran
Iran and Russia in talks for further atomic projects
Following the completion of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear project this month, local media has reported that Russia has put forward proposals for the construction of further nuclear plants in the country.
Resalat newspaper quoted Iran’s nuclear chief, Fereydoon Abbasi Davani, as saying: “We have held negotiations with the Russians regarding the construction of new nuclear power plants, and they have put forward some proposals. The exchange of ideas and proposals will continue until a clear result is reached.”
The Bushehr nuclear power facility was finished this month, and will be officially inaugurated after Ramadan. The project was started in the 1970s and repeatedly delayed due to conflict in the country, and has drawn widespread attention from countries across the world amid concern over the plant’s intended use.
