New water law for Qatar by 2016
Legislation will ensure better quality and water transmission
Following the tripling of Qatar’s water consumption across a 12-year period, the Sultanate’s National Water Act will come into force in 2016.
The strategy aims to develop an integrated system for water management, through the unification of all regulations that aim to plug gaps in the legal framework. It will also look at the efficiency of the nation’s water transmission system in an attempt to limit costs and impacts to the environment.
The system will instigate a new legislation system for water, in an attempt to limit consumption and increase the quality of water directed to homes, using a combination of government bodies working together.
