DEWA, Dubai’s Electricity and Water Authority, has announced the launch of a $35.3 million substation at Al Farjan.

The 132kV substation will have a capacity of 150 megavolt ampere, and is planned for inauguration during the second quarter of the year. Supporting the power transmission grid, the substation will extend and enhance the capacity of DEWA’s grids to the Al Farjan area, having already extended ground cables by more than 10km to connect it to the 132/400 substation at the Gardens area.

H.E. Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said: “This will definitely optimise its efficiency and reliability and ensure an uninterrupted and stable power supply to all various segments of consumers at all times. This substation is part of the grid comprising the main 132KV transformation substation with transformational capacity of 150 MV/Ampere north of Jumeirah Village, which was also launched during the second quarter of this year at a cost of AED 120 million.
