New solar plant inaugurated in Iran
72,000kw of renewable generation comes on-stream in Mashad
Iran’s largest solar plant, which is expected to produce 72,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, has been inaugurated.
Iranian designed and built, the new plant uses 216 solar panels, equipped with trackers for maximum production, as part of the country’s plans to generate 5,000 megawatts of electricity from renewable resources by 2015.
It has been constructed in the city of Mashad - east of Tehran - and forms part of the nation’s plans to stabilise its electricity supply and develop clean sources of energy.
