DEWA to complete 43km pipe project this year

$116m project to extend water pipelines will finish by end of 2011

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has announced that it is currently working on a project to extend and commission water transmission networks along Muscat Road, Al Khail Road, Al Aweer, Nad Al Hamar and Ras Al Khor. The project also covers business bay and Oud Metha, supplying water to Maritime City via Sheikh Zayed Road.

HE Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said: “This step is part of DEWA’s strategic plan aiming to enhance the operation efficiency of its water networks, support water transmission networks and increase quantities of water flow to meet the ever-increasing demand for water.”

Of the 43km project DEWA has completed the extension of 35.8km of pipeline, at a cost of some AED416 million ($113m). Started in June 2008, the project is due for completion later this year.
