Masdar manages $540m in global assets
Dual funds invest half a billion dollars in worldwide renewables
Masdar Capital’s dual funds manage a portfolio of global assets worth more than $540 million, making it one of the world’s leading players in clean technology investment.
In the five years since its inception the Abu Dhabi based company has established itself in projects across the world, and the firm’s two investment vehicles – Masdar Clean Tech Fund and DB Masdar Clean Tech Fund – are involved in a range of industries, including solar thin-film, waste-to-energy facilities, wind energy and water purification.
The firm’s $250m Masdar Clean Tech Fund – launched in 2006 – is now fully invested, targeting companies with promising technology in solar power, waste treatment and sustainable clean water technologies.
Alex O’Cinneide, director and head of investments at Masdar Capital, commented: “ We seek to grow and expand our status as a global player in the cleantech investment arena, and are looking to be a major force for renewable investment globally. Our efforts in building an asset management business headquartered in Abu Dhabi with strong international investors are beginning to pay off.”
