The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has announced the launch of a new 400kV main substation in Al Barshaa, following an investment of $109m.

Discussing the launch, H.E. Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer MD and CEO of DEWA said: “DEWA’s efforts come within the framework of enhancing the efficiency of its grids to meet the growth of demand for its services, and going on with implementing its vital projects, especially in the field of infrastructure.”

He added: “At a cost up to AED400m, the project aims to extend and enhance the capacity of DEWA’s grids of power transmission at Al Barshaa. DEWA has extended overhead lines at the length of 1200m to join the lines connecting the main substation with the generation substations at Jebel Ali, optimising its efficiency and reliability ensuring an uninterrupted and stable power supply to all consumers at all times.”
