Kahramaa, Qatar’s General Electric and Water Corporation, has announced it is to put in place an electronic metering system to bring more accurate infrastructure to thousands of homes across the nation.

The project will be tendered in phases and include 12,000 electricity meters and 8,000 water meters, aiming for completion in 2015, with officials saying that it will improve the company’s technological network to meet increased demand.

Planned for both the power and water sectors, the project is expected to cost $14.3 million ($6m for water and $8.3m for electricity).
