Green light for Egypt's first private wind farm
120 megawatt, $200m wind farm to be built on the Red Sea coast
A $200 million investment by the energy generation company Italgen will see the first private wind farm built in Egypt.
The farm, with an expected generating capacity of 120 megawatts, will be built in the Gulf El Zeit area, on the Red Sea.
General director of the Italgen group, Giuseppe De Beni, said: “The group is now ready to submit its contributions; Egypt is really qualified to receive foreign investments from the private sector.”
