Iranian dams to control water and power shortages
18 dams to raise Iran's water storage capacity by 3.5 billion gallons
Iran’s deputy energy minister has announced that 18 new dams will be commissioned in the current Iranian year, with the intention of raising the country’s stored water reserves by 3.5 billion cubic metres.
In a report by the Iran Daily, Mohammad Reza Attarzadeh, deputy energy minister, said that at present, the country has 25 billion gallons of water stored in reservoirs.
Aside from the generation of electricity, the dams will also help Iran to control its water shortage problems.
