The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) has begun building two power plants in Umm Al Qaiwain, according to a report by the Emirates News Agency.

A tendering process is also underway for a further two plants in the emirate, which is aiming to increase investment in the utilities sector to AED5.7 billion. Three substations are also to be upgraded, and a main generation plant will be expanded to meet increasing demand.

Yousif Jassem Al Mansouri, Deputy Director of Umm Al Qaiwain Planning Department, has also announced that FEWA was granted a 97,000-square foot plot to construct a new power plant which will help meet the rising demand for energy in the emirate.
