Production of solar electricity to begin following three-phase plan
The municipality of Abu Dhabi city is to initiate the production of electricity from solar sources, at the rate of 100kWh at its head office, according to a report by Emirates News Agency.
The project is part of a three-phase program of power management and production using environmentally friendly methods, which has been implemented to rationalise electricity consumption and enhance sustainability standards in municipal buildings.
“The energy management and production programme, based on using alternative methods, will bear first fruits this week, to mark the initial operation of electrical power generation using solar energy,” said Salah Awadh Al Sarraj, acting executive director of the town planning sector.
“This epitomises the municipality’s commitment to providing alternative clen, natural and environmental methods in generating electrical power using solar energy through utilising all rooftops of the buildings of the municipality of Abu Dhabi City.
