Expats living in Sharjah will have to pay between Dh3,000 and Dh4,500 in water and electricity deposits , in new rules laid out by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority.

According to the authority, residents in one or two bedroom apartments or houses are to pay an additional Dh3,000 and those in three-bedroom homes will pay Dh4,500, after residents found notices on their doorsteps asking them to pay the deposits within seven days or risk being disconnected from the provider.
