Council of Energy meets UN to discuss alliance
Collaboration and environmental strategy discussed at energy meeting
The Vice Chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, H.E. Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer, has met with the resident representative of United Nations Development Programme, to discuss the ongoing collaboration to address the risks of climatic conditions and their negative effects on natural resources.
Meeting with Dr Alissar Sarrouh from the UN, H.E. Al Tayer said: “The discussions focused on common cooperation and future projects. The council established the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence in order to reduce carbon emissions as part of its environmental strategy, to focus on limiting these emissions, and playing a vital role in providing a clean environment for the Dubai society.
The Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and specialises in offering the best expertise to determine eco-friendly initiatives, and playing an effective role in providing a pure environment both locally and regionally.
H.E. Al Tayer also pointed out that the Council aims to set up a find for environmental balances, preparing structure for economy, offering consultations relevant to projects of carbon emission reduction, and achieving carbon neutral to meet the needs of the Emirate of Dubai, as well as the region.
