Fuel for Iran research reactor ready in ten months
Iran will have enough fuel for new research reactor by March 2012
Enough nuclear fuel to power Tehran’s research reactor will be ready by March 2012, Iranian officials have announced in a report by the Tehran Times.
Announced during a conference held in Tehran last week, the deputy secretary for media affairs for the Supreme National Security Council, Abolfazl Zohrevand, said that so far more than 40 kilos has already been produced.
The remaining 80 kilos will be produced by March next year, and work has already started on the installation of the machinery needed for producing nuclear fuel plates.
“20 per cent enriched nuclear fuel is being produced, and we do not have any problems in providing nuclear fuel for the Tehran reactor,” said Fereydoun Abbasi, director of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran.
