GE to boost Indonesian power supply
Natural gas turbine will add 114mw of generating capacity
Gas turbine technology from GE is to add to Indonesia’s power generation, after the company has won the contract to supply a new turbine and generator to the Cikarang power station near Jakarta.
Adding 114 megawatts of power to the facility, the natural gas turbine will also support the Indonesian government’s commitment to a low carbon development path, aiming to reduce the country’s CO2 emissions by 30 per cent in the year 2020.
The 9E gas turbine will joint eight other GE gas turbines purchased by PT Cikarang Listrindo for previous projects, and with more than 600 operating around the world, is seen as the workhorse of the company’s fleet.
