In an attempt to secure a better water supply for the nation, Oman’s ministry of regional municipalities and water resources has announced plans to build four dams across the country, utilising wadis during peak flooding times, the Oman Times has reported.
The new dams will include the Wadi Umti Recharge Dam in wilayat Izki, Wadi Kalbouh Recharge Dam in wilayat Nizwa, Wadi Al Khoudh Flood Protection Dam upstream at Al Khoudh old village and Wadi Darbat Dam in Dhofar.
