Wind farm tender expected for Egypt
1,000 megawatt wind farm project in Gulf of Suez announced
Egypt’s electricity minister Hassan Younis, has announced that the country will launch a tender next month to find a company for the construction of a 1,000 megawatt wind power project.
The project will be constructed in two phases and located in the Gulf of Suez, with the winning bidder designing, building, owning and operating the station for between 20 and 25 years.
The generation capacity for the project will be split between the two phases, each of 500 megawatts, and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company will purchase the power, and sell it to consumers at process defined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
