Experimental launch of Iraq's Sadr power station
Long-awaited power station to help ease electricity shortage
The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has announced the experimental launch of electrical units at the delayed al-Sadr gas station, which officials are saying will offer the country’s network 640 megawatts, an AK News report has said.
In December last year the Electricity Ministry presented projects for the construction of four gas-powered electricity generating plants to double its production in coming years, to be operated by Iranian company Snair.
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Musab al-Mudarres said: “The Ministry of Electricity is working in coordination with the Iranian company to resolve the technical obstacles that hinder the completion of the al-Sadr gas station.”
