Dubai Municipality has signed a joint development agreement with Hitachi Plant Technologies Limited, to set up an experimental system to study and improve the quality of sewage water in the Emirate.

The study will also study the possibility of purification of processed water, and its reuse for cooling plants in the region, and other industrial uses.

According to the agreement, Hitachi Plant Technologies will examine the performance of a covering bioreactor system, which would also look at the possibility of using treated water in groundwater recharge in the future.

Hitachi Plant is to manufacture and dismantle the experimental station in the wastewater treatment plant in Aweer, and will also provide the manual of tests, procedures and processes. Dubai Municipality will run the station, collect and analyse all research data.
