World's largest gas-powered plant completed
Record-breaking Jubail plant in Saudi will generate 2,750MW
The world’s largest gas-powered power station has been completed in Saudi Arabia, according to Hyundai Heavy Industries, a contractor on the project.
Constructed as part of a $2.7 billion contract for a power and desalination facility in the Kingdom, the Jubail was commissioned by state-run company Marafiq back in 2007 and was won by a consortium including Hyundai Heavy Industries, GE and French firm Sidem.
At 2,750 megawatts, the $1.1 billion plant’s generating capacity will form almost 10 per cent of Saudi Arabia’s total power output,
