UAE to have National Committee for climate change
Coordination of renewable energy initiatives run by high-level team
The UAE’s federal government has set up a high-level committee on climate change, the Khaleej Times has reported.
The committee’s mandate will be the coordination of the renewable energy initiatives and climate-change mitigation across the country, the report said, after Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Special Envoy for Energy and Climate Change, discussed it at the Clean Energy Ministerial in Abu Dhabi.
“We are going to work within the committee to facilitate the sharing of information, the development of initiatives and awareness of climate change,” he said, adding that the committee’s charter is still in the draft stage.
