800km of transmission lines are to be repaired between Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, as part of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation’s GCC power grid project.

As part of the plans, 18 substations will be constructed in the next three years, and the redevelopment and modernisation of the current installed infrastructure – including new cable lines – is currently in its 9th phase. Expected to cost in the region of US$20 million, the transmission wire repair is part of the final phase’s US$1.2 billion set of works.
