Saudi's largest solar plant running by year end
Saudi Aramco's car park plant will be largest of its kind in Kingdom
A new solar project in Dhahran will be the biggest of its kind in Saudi Arabia, as Belectric and Sun & Life announce a 10MW project.
The project will be located at the newly finished North Park offices of Saudi Aramco, and will see more than 120,000 copper indium selenide photovoltaic modules installed above the company’s 4,500-space car park. The power plant is set to be feeding power into the grid by the end of the year, and will be built by Belectric and Sun & Life.
“We are very proud to be awarded this project,” said Bernhard Beck, CEO of Belectric. “The clear benefits of the thin-film photovoltaic modules, combined with our enhanced plant technologies and project engineering are the contributing factors to make a solar power plant reliable and efficient under hot climate conditions.”
