Chevron sustainability centre for Qatar
Green development in Qatar boosted by new centre for sustainability
American energy giant Chevron has supported Qatar’s strategy for sustainable development, with the opening of a new Center for Sustainable Energy Efficiency in Chevron Qatar Energy Technology offices in Qatar.
Inaugurated with the backing of HE Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, the centre, at Qatar Science and Technology Park, has a visitor centre for training, and also the demonstration of energy-efficient lighting and photovoltaic technologies. Later this year, Chevron is also expecting to link with a solar research facility at the technology park, in order to study solar power and air conditioning.
The park will also see Chevron investing $20 million over the next five years. John Gass, Chevron’s President of Global Gas, said: “We admire Qatar’s development of its energy industry, and salute its achievements. We are also proud to be given the opportunity to contribute to its next phase of growth, in which resources are maximized for future generations. We are pleased to work with the Qatar Science and Technology Park on achieving this potential.”
