DEWA has announced it will float the tender for its large-scale Hassyan power and seawater desalination complex this March, expecting to commission the plant in three years’ time.

The 1,500MW power station and 120 million-imperial-gallons-a-day desalination complex is due to be built near the Abu Dhabi border, and will use natural gas. Implemented on an independent water and power project basis, it is expected to help DEWA meet rising demands for electricity and water requirements in Dubai, while also reducing its capital expenditure requirements.
