Dolphin says the Qatar-UAE gas connection should be ready by Q3 2010.

Abu Dhabi’s Dolphin Energy says work on the cross-country gas pipeline from Qatar to the east coast of the UAE is scheduled to be complete by the third quarter of 2010.

Part of the UAE capital’s Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, the new connection will pump gas from Qatar to Taweelah, where it will then be piped to ADWEA’s Qidfa Water and Electricity Station, which is currently under construction.

“This project plays a vital role in realising Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 as it constitutes an important source of natural gas for the emirate,” said Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ansari, general manager of Dolphin Energy UAE.

“Dolphin now provides the emirate with 929 million cubic feet of gas/day (cfd), which helps boost the emirate’s economy besides creating new jobs,” he added.

Altogether, Dolphin provides a third of the UAE’s local consumption.
