The SEC has invested in a pipeline from a desalination plant in Abha.
The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has awarded a tender worth around US$380 million to increase the generation capacity of a plant in Qassim, while awarding projects for water projecs worth around $180 million, writes the Arab News daily.
The upgrade of the plant will increase capacity by 472MW, the paper quotes the chairman of SEC's board of directors, Saleh Al-Awaji.
On Sunday, Water and Electricity Minister Abdullah Al-Hussayen signed contracts for implementing a number of water and sewage projects in Asir province. Around $140 million would be spent on a pipelind connecting a desalination plant in Abha to Tathleeth, said a ministry official.
Arab News did not report who had won the contracts.
