Saudi Arabia's state-run Saline Water Conversion Corp (SWCC) has awarded a US$2.4 billion contract to build the 2,800-megawatt power generation unit of the power and seawater desalination complex at Ras Al Zour to a Saudi-Chinese joint venture, the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) reported on Sunday.
The contract was awarded in early September to Al Arrab Contracting Co. and China's Sepco III Electric Power Construction Corp., and is due to be completed in early 2014, writes MEED.
SWCC has awarded the contract for the desalination unit to South Korea's Doosan, according to the digest.
