Tunisia wants to upgrade its desalination capacity.

As part of an overall effort to build 13 desalination plants, Tunisia's National Society for Water Exploitation and Distribution has begun a tendering procedure for the construction of 10 desalination plants in the south the country, the Ansa newspaper reported on Saturday.

The plants will process brackish waters and have a total daily capacity of 36,200 cubic metres. Tunisia's diverse desalination projects aim to provide water for everything from public to tourist consumption.
